On Saturday evening, April 12, in a surprise calculated move at a meaningful place and event fond to Mr. Vince Burkhardt (Burkhardt Construction), he was recognized with the coveted AGC S.I.R. Award. This award has been given very few times in the history of the AGC Florida East Coast Chapter.

SIR Awards are reserved for chapters to recognize recipients who exemplify values embraced by the AGC organization as a whole and the individual who has demonstrated outstanding service, industry leadership, and standing in the community during a distinguished career. It is the highest honor given to a deserving AGC Florida East Coast Chapter member. The last S.I.R. Award was given to the late R.F. Skip Gladwin III many years ago.

This S.I.R. award, given on behalf of the board, membership and staff recognizes Vince Burkhardt at a remarkable time in history coinciding with Burkhardt Construction, being founded in 1975 and celebrating 50 years in business as well as 50 years as a member of the AGC Florida East Coast Chapter and 40 years sponsoring the AGC Florida East Coast Chapter Fishing Tournament held at the Sailfish Club of Florida, where he is a member.

Mr. Burkhardt served as President in 1984. He is recognized by AGC of America on its Board of Governors as a Lifetime Governor, has served as an AGC of America Regional PAC chair, served on many chapter committees and in roles throughout the history of the chapter, had a chapter scholarship golf tournament named after him for endless years. His leadership and engagement for years after his Presidency helped continue to lay the foundation for those who would follow in his shoes to continue to build upon the success of the chapter for years to come.

He is a Past President that is always available should he be called upon to this day, has consistently supported the chapter in its efforts and as a member has represented the AGC in an exemplary manner with core tenants of skill, integrity and responsibility. Of fact, Vince is responsible for 50 years of successful, claims-free construction projects, all delivered on time and or under budget and a strong commitment to safety, all these things also making him a prime candidate for this distinguished award to be given during his career.

With board members on hand attending the event, Fishing Tournament Chair Mike Tucker (Maschmeyer) and Past Presidents John Ciabattari (Ferreira) and Stephen Sines (Morganti), SVP Michael Ciabattari (Ferreira), VP Matthew Marks (Moss) and CEO Michelle DePotter, he was presented the award to a well-deserving standing ovation, which included his executive management team, Sharon Burkhardt and Marc Kleisley and other key staff and spouses.
