Miami-based Coastal Construction Awarded For Creating New Artificial Intelligence Tool That Saves Firms Ten-thousand Hours Of Work A Year
Coastal Construction Wins AGC/Autodesk Innovation Award for Developing Togal.AI, a Software Program that Uses AI and Machine Learning to Analyze Construction Drawings and Provide Quantity Reports
Miami-based Coastal Construction awarded for developing Togal.AI, an estimating software program which utilizes deep machine learning and artificial intelligence to analyze construction drawings and provide quantity reports. As a result, the Coastal Construction was named as the grand prize winner of the AGC Innovation Awards, sponsored by Autodesk.
“These companies are finding innovative approaches to improve the construction industry,” said Lester C. Snyder, the association’s president and executive vice president of Brightline West in Las Vegas, Nev. “They are part of a core of contractors who are revolutionizing the way firms build projects.”
The new artificial intelligence estimating tool allows Coastal Construction’s estimators to save about 10,000 hours of work each year. As a result, they were able to spend more time on more important work like nurturing subcontractor relationships, performing value engineering, innovating, reviewing plans and pricing for clients and bidding on more work.
In addition to Coastal Construction, Savannah, Ga.-based Green Badger received the second-place prize for developing tools to streamline and automate sustainability and green construction compliance. Glendale, Ca.-based PCL Construction won the third-place prize for developing Job Site Access, a cloud-based platform for establishing and controlling site access to construction job sites. The tool allows PCL to track, manage and control access on job sites.
The association presented the Coastal Construction with a $7,000 grand prize during its annual convention last month in Las Vegas. Snyder noted that the association created the AGC Innovation Awards, sponsored by Autodesk, to inspire members of the construction industry to craft innovative solutions to pressing industry challenges. Snyder added that the Innovation Award showcases free thinkers within the construction industry to provide solutions to construction challenges we face.
