History
The Florida East Coast Chapter was chartered on March 1,1949, in Palm Beach County by Charter Members: Arnold Construction, Birdsall Construction, Cleary Brothers Construction, Co., Coastal Properties Corporation, Don Hiller & Sons, Inc., P.C. Lissenden Co., Inc., The Murphy Construction Co., Latham Brothers Construction Company, J. Hilbert Sapp, Inc., Sheldon & Glisson, Inc., and Watts and Sinclair Construction Co. The Chapter’s chartered geographical areas include: Palm Beach, Martin, St. Lucie, Indian River, Okeechobee, Highlands, Glades, and Hendry Counties. Our members have a presence throughout the state of Florida, and the chapter is central and to the rest of the state, north and west of us.
In 1968, Schwab and Twitty, AIA of Palm Beach won an impromptu competition to design the future home of the Florida East Coast Chapter at 2617 N. Australian Ave., West Palm Beach, which served as the Chapter’s headquarters until August 2021. Continually evolving to remain the relevant industry association and to better serve and represent the needs of our members, we relocated our offices to the prominent location of 515 N. Flagler Drive, Suite 910, West Palm Beach.
Collectively, with AGC of America and chapters nationwide, our voice, presence and clout at the national, state and local levels is unmatched by other industry organizations. We take the lead together to advocate, educate, and advance our industry as the voice of construction.
Since 1949, AGC Florida East Coast Chapter has been guided by strong leadership to make us who we are today. Thank you to our board chairs and presidents who have laid the foundation for us to build upon.
